Special Requirements and Standards

Application Due Date

Application for field inspection shall be submitted to the ACIA office within 30 days of planting a crop for certification.

Seed Treatment

All classes of certified seed shall be treated with approved materials to control seed-borne diseases to qualify for final certification.

General Field Standards

Land History

Land planted for the production of certified seed shall not have grown soybean during the previous year unless the crop was grown from certified seed of the same variety.

Unit of Certification

A portion of a field may be accepted for certification if the non-eligible portion does not affect the genetic purity of the certified portion.

Field Inspection

At least one field inspection shall be conducted, generally after physiological maturity.

Isolation

A soybean field for certification shall be separated from another variety or uncertified plantings of the same variety by a distance adequate to prevent mechanical mixture.

Specific Field Standards

The maximum permitted frequencies of plants of another variety and off-type plants that can be differentiated from the variety being certified shall be:

Foundation class production - 1:1,000
Registered class production - 1:500
Certified class production - 1:300

The maximum permitted frequency of inseparable other crops shall be
