General Field Standards
Land History
Land planted for production of all certified classes of okra shall not have grown okra during the previous year unless a previous okra crop was grown from a class of certified seed of the same variety.
Unit of Certification
A portion of a field may be accepted for certification if the non-eligible portion does not affect the genetic purity of the certified portion.
Field Inspection
At least one field inspection shall be conducted at a growth stage when varietal differences are most apparent. This stage will normally be when some pods are maturing.
Isolation
Fields producing certified seed shall have the following minimum isolation distances from fields of another okra variety or from fields of the same variety not meeting the purity requirements for certification:
Foundation class and Registered class production - 1,320 feet |
